Blurb:Vito J. Lopez is a New York assemblyman and a long-serving Brooklyn Democratic leader who has been widely viewed as the borough’s patronage king.
In August 2012, an Assembly ethics committee determined that Mr. Lopez had sexually harassed two female employees earlier in the summer. As a result, Mr. Lopez was stripped of his committee chairmanship and barred from employing anyone under the age of 21.
Mr. Lopez also said he would give up his powerful chairmanship of the Brooklyn Democratic Party. But Mr. Lopez, 71, said he planned to keep his seat in the State Assembly, despite widespread calls from many city and state officials for his resignation.
