Back in the real world, people still believe that Social Security taxes are for Social Security (wrongly, IMHO, but that's another story). So, are Democrats willing to say they believe it's just another general fund income tax (which would also say that the "trust fund" is truly a lie, like the CBO does), or are they purposely sabotaging Social Security?

Spin can work both ways.

It is used as a general fund tax, that's for sure. What ever happened to Al Gore's "lock box"? Oh right, the Supreme Court elected dubya.

To be quite honest, I wouldn't really mind the tax increase so as long as the rich also saw their top rate go up.

I make MAYBE a little over 6,000 dollars a year. But I would gladly have more money taken out of my paycheck if it would save social security and (Horrors) provide medical care for all. It's just what is right. The top must also pay their fair share and show that they are part of this country too. they are not creating jobs they have proved that. they have had the cuts for how long? Where are the jobs?

That's a really selfless position to take. I think it just goes to show that paying taxes is patriotic.

The left protects those hurt by the free market while the right protects those hurt by government . . . they are two sides of the same coin.

Taxes are stealing, the threat of force to get something from someone is extortion.
